Well, I’ve decided to make this website “ad supported”. I’m putting it in quotes because I don’t expect to actually receive anything monetary out of the ads–the simple truth is that I don’t get enough traffic, and they’re so inobtrusively placed that I doubt few people will ever click on them. Either way, it doesn’t matter: I’m placing Google AdSense advertisements in the bottom-left corner of this page for idealistic reasons rather than economic ones.
Let me explain. I’m tired of modern advertising. It’s obtrusive, badly targeted, obnoxious, distracting, and wastes bandwidth and screen space. Why is it this way? If you don’t stress ad quality, you have to go with quantity to receive any returns of revenue.
Google, however, is taking a different approach. With their inobtrusive, simple, text-based, explicitly-targeted ads, they’re stressing ad quality over quantity. And it’s taking off. This is just an effort on my part to support a business practice that I strongly agree with. If more advertisers would take this approach, rather than trying to deluge our every sense with irrelevant ads hoping to get lucky, then birds will sing, rainbows will appear in every cloud, and the price of gas will drop back to $1.00 per gallon.

Yes. Yes I did. They’re enabled, but I don’t remember if the sizes I have on the website are the ones they’re offering images for.
