*sigh*

Yet another reason to be ashamed of living in the state of Georgia.

On Iraqi Oil

A good friend of mine from the GamingForce Political Palace, who happens to be an extremely qualified military historian, told me the best justification yet for the Iraqi invasion in a recent conversation we had. Rather than summarize it, I’m just going to paste the conversation directly (edited for relevance and linearity). I have yet to do substantive research on the matter yet, but if the argument he makes is true, then there was far more at stake in the situation with Iraq than most people ever imagined.

Indian Competition

I’m glad somebody has finally taken a rational stance on the Indian outsourcing issue. As Jordi will tell you, I’ve from the beginning stated that our current trend towards outsourcing IT is not only inevitable, but probably for the better, too. It’s simple capitalism, folks. It’s a perfect example of the free market at work. Indian programmers are providing a product, their labor, at a better price/performance efficiency than American ones are.

Hidden Weapons

Since Sunday, critics of the Bush administration have been attacking him based on the statement of David Kay, the former United States Chief Weapons Inspector: “I don’t think [the weapons of mass destruction] exist.” Of course, according to many Democrats, it’s proof that Bush lied to us. However, all evidence points the other way.

Judging Color

I’m so glad we’ve stopped judging people based on the color of their skin. But of course, we know that all Africans are black, right?

This has been plastered all over the internet, so I’m not even going to bother really responding to it.

In it for the Profits

In Georgia, there’s a radio station called 99x. This station, up until recently, primarily broadcasted new rock. Within the past month, they added 90s alternative to their playlists, catering to listener demands enumerated in a survey. As a recent advertising campaign, they’ve started playing back positive listener feedback on the new changes. One such listener stated (this is a rough quote), “I used to think you guys were only in it for the profits. Now I know you really care about how your listeners feel.”

This is just…

…scary. The human body was not designed to do this (approx. 45 seconds into the clip).

Yet More Borkage

I’m mucking around with the index template and its stylesheet, trying to clean up Jordi’s ugly code ;) and tweak things closer to my personal liking. I’ve made the changes live, but they haven’t been thoroughly tested. If anyone. If you experience problems, something isn’t rendering correctly, or there are other awkward problems, please let me know. If possible, include a screenshot of the problem.

For those of you who don’t like the orange background, I’ve included an option on the Utility panel on the left to change stylesheets. “Clean” should be more to your liking. In the future, I’ll probably add more styles.

And yes, Joya, borkage is a word.

To Hold a Bassoon Again

While Tara Dooley (picture soon, I hope) and I were studying for our Differential Equations class earlier today, I took the opportunity to ask her a question that’s been bugging me since she told me she was a bassoonist. Yes, she would in fact let me try out her year-old, approx. $8,000, Fox 220 Bassoon.

Homeland Insecurity

As most of us know, President Bush gave his State of the Union address on Tuesday evening. Near the opening, Bush made the statement, “Each day, law enforcement personnel and intelligence officers are tracking terrorist threats; analysts are examining airline passenger lists; the men and women of our new homeland security department are patrolling our coasts and borders. And their vigilance is protecting America.” But even with all this, does anyone out there actually believe we’re any safer?
